GREENFIELD — The annual Greenfield Farmers’ Market is returning on Saturday for its 49th year, showcasing a wide variety of new vendors and old favorites.

“We have between 26 and 30 vendors,” said Marketing Manager Hannah Logan. “About 15 or so of those vendors will be there every week, with the other 10 to 15 different every week. There’s going to be a good amount of stability and variety.”

Some of the confirmed vendors include Sunrise Farms, Just Roots, Hearthstone Artisan Bakery, Nuthatch & Bluet Studios, Beaumont’s Berries, Sweet Pea Cottage Industries, Lyonsville Farm and Hart Farm. Among the newer vendors is Woodnote Coffee Co., according to Logan.

As in past years, there will be a variety of entertainers on the Greenfield Common.

“The city is managing a rotating fleet of food trucks, so there will be a variety of prepared foods, which is really exciting,” Logan added.

The kick-off of the farmers market, which will run every Saturday through Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Court Square, coincides with Franklin County’s YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day.

“We’re going to have a few events at the info booth for kids — seedling plantings for kids, tattoos and stickers, and hopefully some of the vendors will be involved,” she said.

Logan noted that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) benefits will be accepted.

“The market was just approved as a HIP vendor ourselves, so even if the individual vendors don’t have a SNAP payment terminal, people can still get their HIP benefits through [the market],” she said. “We’re really excited to be able to offer that this year.”
