GREENFIELD — A $1 million Massachusetts State Lottery scratch ticket sold at Big Y World Class Market was claimed by a trust on March 1.
CWCB Nominee Trust of Greenfield opted to receive the prize as a one-time payment of $650,000, before taxes. Attorney George L. “Luke” Goodridge III drove to the State Lottery Commission headquarters in Dorchester to accept the prize for a client.
“I was claiming it on behalf of a trust to give a client privacy,” Goodridge said Wednesday.
Goodridge, of the law firm Curtiss Carey Gates & Goodridge, said the State Lottery allows a trust to claim a prize so “the actual winner behind the scenes can remain private and not have their identity disclosed.”
The Big Y supermarket in Greenfield will get a $10,000 bonus for selling the $10 “Fabulous Fortune” ticket.
