Bulletin Board: Four Rivers boys basketball falls to Eagle Hill in RVAL championship game

The Four Rivers boys basketball team’s impressive run in the River Valley Athletic League tournament came to a close on Thursday in Hardwick.
Taking on Eagle Hill in the RVAL championship game, it was host Eagle Hill that raced out to a 38-14 halftime lead to take command. The Otters powered forward in the second half but the run fell just short as Four Rivers dropped a 68-57 decision.
Isaiah Goleman led the way with 21 points for the Otters, 17 coming in the second half. Caleb Bird-Richards tallied 14 points, Kolin Broderick recorded eight points, Cooper Whitney recorded seven points and senior Alex Pawell had four points in the loss.
Petrin alumni game Saturday
The 30th annual David M. Petrin Alumni Hockey Game will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield. The game will feature Greenfield High School and Green Wave alumni.
All GHS and Green Wave hockey alumni are welcome to play, with roster spots still available. Rosters are limited to 30 skaters and two goalies. Interested alumni should call Larry Petrin (413-773-9250) and leave their name, telephone number and year of graduation.
There will be a raffle held, with all proceeds going to benefit the David M. Petrin Memorial Scholarship, awarded each spring to Greenfield High School graduates. For more information or learn how to donate, please contact any member of the Petrin family.

Registration for Greenfield Minor League Baseball is now open.
All registration is done online (GMLB.org). The cost is $100 per player, $75 for a second sibling and $50 for each additional sibling. Registration closes on Feb. 28.
Evaluations will be on Saturday, March 18 at Franklin County Technical School with times still to be determined. Team practices will begin on April 1. Any questions can be sent to gmlbcalripken@gmail.com.

Pentathlon
The Berkshire Highlands Pentathlon is returning to Charlemont in April.
The Pentathlon is scheduled to take place on April 1 at Berkshire East Mountain Resort. The race includes five events: a 4.5-mile trail run, an 18-mile bicycle road ride, a two-mile paddle, a two-mile adventure run and a two-mile adventure run and climb down the ski mountain. Participants can choose to complete the course as a team or solo.
Nearly 200 athletes participated last year, with 60 signed up for the 2023 event so far. There will be food and raffle prizes to winners in each category. There is a discounted entry fee for family teams and under-19 entrants.
Online registration is available now at BikeReg.com. Race day registration will be available, with the race still looking for volunteers. This year’s benefactor is the Mary Lyon Foundation.
