Lisa Sullivan, Terry Boyce, Jill Waldron, Corky Sysun, Valerie Esquer, Julia Wallace and Lorraine Cetto were able to celebrate on Thursday after their round at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. 

Competing in the MassGolf Women’s Spring Cup, the group — which was representing Crumpin-Fox Club — closed out its play in Region 8 by scoring 38.5 points against Waubeeka Golf Links. That gave Crumpin-Fox 187.50 points for the tournament, which was good for first place in the region.

Taconic Golf Club placed second, Waubeeka came in third, Country Club of Pittsfield placed fourth, Wahconah Country Club came in fifth while Gardner Municipal Golf Course took sixth in Region 8.

Hersey ace at Thomas

Glenn Hersey sank his first career hole-in-one on Tuesday at Thomas Memorial.

Hersey’s shot came on Hole No. 7 using a 9 iron. Dennis Chaffee was witness.

Richardson at World Series

Kelsey Richardson hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning on Friday that helped propel the Herkimer softball team to a 7-2 triumph over Rochester Community and Technical College in the seventh place game of the NJCAA DIII Softball World Series in Chattanooga, Tenn. 

The Generals suffered losses in their opening  two days of the tournament, falling to Patrick & Henry (8-5) and Community College of Rhode Island (9-8). Richardson, a Greenfield High School alum, also homered in the loss to Patrick & Henry.

Denny’s Pantry 13, Maniatty’s Real Estate 6 — Ben Shivone, Ryan Turner, Andrew Gardner and Liam Bassett each had two hits in Denny’s victory on Thursday. 

Phil Brodeur homered and added two singles while Jay  Philstetler, Carter Gunnison and Luciano Stoffolano hit safely for Maniatty’s. 

Gilmore & Farrell 3, Smitty’s Pub 2 — Theo D’Urso pitched and knocked three hits at the plate, one driving in the game winning run, while Casey Burke hit a home run and Jamie McCarthy, Jayden Howard and Noah Foote hit safely in Gilmore’s win Thursday. 

Asa Bouchard, JJ Bones, Jacob Miller and Carter Malouin all hit safely for Smitty’s.

Franklin First Credit Union 8, Freedom First Credit Union 4 — Dani Zraunig had four hits, Marlee Pratt and Grayson Baker each had three hits while LilyMelissa Beckwith hit safely in Franklin’s win Thursday. 

Sophia Stacy, Paisley Beck and Elyse Reardon each had three hits while Riley Reipold knocked two hits for Freedom. 

Triton Automotive 9, Gilmore & Farrell 0 — Sophia LaPan and Raine Wonsey hit safely while Lindsey Hawkins struck out 11 and Lexi Hawkins struck out six in Triton’s win Thursday. 

Sadie Wilcox had a hit and struck out five while Kamryn Beck struck out three for Gilmore.
