Bulletin Board: Conway's Gunnar Moore plays well in U.S. Open local qualifier

Conway’s Gunnar Moore competed in a 2024 U.S. Open Local Qualifier at Longmeadow Country Club on Monday, finishing in a tie for 16th place.
Moore shot a 2-over-par 72, going 1-under on his back nine. Holyoke’s Chris Tallman was the medalist with a 6-under 64. The top four finishers earned spots in sectional qualifying, with the cut line to continue on in U.S. Open qualifying at 1-under.
Westfield State softball falls in title-tilt
The Westfield State softball team reached the finals of the MASCAC championship tournament, but fell twice to Framingham State in the double-elimination tournament on Sunday.
Stephanie Scoville — a Pioneer alum — pitched in both games for the Owls. In the opening 3-0 loss, Scoville tossed four innings, struck out one and scattered four hits. In the 10-2 loss to decide the champion, Scoville went 4 1/3 in the circle, striking out one and allowing seven hits.

Bill Buck, Craig Sessions, Dave Cote and Dan James shot the low gross of 56 in the men’s flight at the Greenfield Kiwanis Club Outing at the Country Club of Greenfield on Monday.
Elaine Mount, George Mount, Donna McKemmie and Dan Carmody shot the low gross in the mixed flight (68).

In net scoring, Dan Fleming and Zachary Circosta took first (59) while Robert Haigh and Scott Livingstone tied with Robert Provost and Brodie Conant as well as Vinny Melendez and Daniel Bassett for second (60).

Baker Financial Group 18, Gruber & Tripp 10 – Shea Cairney and Jace Sippa each smacked four hits for Baker, while Jayce Kratt (three hits) and Ollie Nestor (three hits) also had big nights on Monday.
Gruber & Tripp’s EJ Morley and Cooper Dean had three hits apiece, and Jasper Bielunis added two hits.
Gilmore & Farrell 12, Denny’s Pantry 11 — Michael Dixon cracked three hits while Theo D’Urso, Casey Burke and Teddy McCarthy each had two hits in Gilmore’s win Sunday.
Ben Shivone and Aaron Turner each had two hits while Liam Bassett hit safely for Denny’s.
On Saturday D’Urso had three hits while McCarthy knocked two hits in Gilmore’s 13-0 win over Denny’s. Bassett and Shivone hit safely in the loss.
Ruggeri Real Estate 10, Lundgren Honda 6 — Aiden Call hit a double and two singles, Toby Campbell struck out 11 and had a hit while Damien McCarthy tallied a hit and an RBI in Ruggeri’s win Saturday.
Ben Trombley had three hits and struck out five, Sebastian Gargone knocked two hits while Reed Kelley had a hit and five strikeouts for Lundgren.
Baker Financial 10, Parody Builders 4 — Zack Bensen had four hits including a double while Duncan Cairney and Asher Tripp each had two hits in Baker’s win Saturday. Benny Thompson cracked three hits while Ethan Martin had two hits for Parody.

Pristine Orientals 10, Elks 4 – Savannah Thomas had three hits while Zoey Lively and Carly Chadwick each had a pair of hits for Pristine. Emma Stacey and Caroline Barrett had hits for the Elks on Monday.
