Bulletin Board: Four Rivers ultimate competes in Pioneer Valley Invitational

The Four Rivers boys ultimate team competed in the Pioneer Valley Invitational in Northampton over the weekend, reaching the quarterfinals.
The Otters beat Needham (12-5) and Titane, out of Montreal, (13-9) but fell to Columbia, N.J. (11-10) on Saturday. On Sunday, Four Rivers fell to Montclair, N.J. (13-9) in overtime before falling to Lexington, 13-12.
Russell Herbert, Caleb Bird-Richards, Sam Whitney, Kolin Broderick and Isaiah Goleman played well for the Otters, who gear up for next weekend’s state tournament.
CFC hole-in-one
John Marchefka sank a hole-in-one during the Knights of Columbus Tournament at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston on Friday.
The shot came from 315 yards out on the par 4 No. 7, with Marchefka using a driver. Jeff Collura, Brian Knowles and Casey Fahey were witnesses.
Northfield ace
Gene LaCoy sank his first career ace on Saturday at Northfield Golf Club, using an 8 iron on Hole No. 7.

Randy Ames, Scott Terraria, Bunny McDonough and Tim McDonough shot the low gross (62) while Marie Saucier, Joh Saucier, Deb Hayden and Kerry Wandrei carded the low net (50) in the Mixed Flight. In the Women’s Flight, Valerie Esquere, Deb Putnam, Corky Sysun and Camilla Thacher shot the low gross (64) while Sally Roberts, Anne Echeverria, Sandy Ruggeri and Susan Renfrew came in with the low net (49).
Ed Snow (two feet, one inch) and Ashley Evans (4-11) won closest to the pin, Joe Berge and Ashley Evans won straightest drive while Ryan Footit and Terry Boyce won longest drive.
■ The foursome of Danica Hochstetler, Phil Corrinet, Wayne Garfinkel and John Shultis tied with Elizabeth Archer, Peter Wood, Vincent Melendez and Daniel Bassett for first place with scores of 147 in the May ABCD Tournament at Country Club of Greenfield on Saturday.
Brian Luippold, Karen Duclos, Norman Morris and Tom Smith shot the low net (107) while Mike Covey, Michael Duclos, Nancy Robie and Susan Luippold took second (108).

New Fortune 13, Pioneer Valley Tire 9 — Cam Santerre, Sam Edson, Luke Edson and Mason Facey combined to score nine runs in New Fortune’s win on Sunday.
Owen Castine tallied a single and a double while Brantley Godfrey doubled and tripled for Pioneer Valley Tire.
Lundgren Honda 19, Aubuchon Hardware 13 — Ben Trombley had three hits, Quinn Gibbons knocked two hits while Laurence Shields hit safely in Lundgren’s win on Sunday.
Kaelynn Dudek tallied three hits and Josh James homered for Aubuchon.
Smitty’s Pub 10, Denny’s Pantry 9 — Asa Bouchard singled and doubled, Topher Miller and Carter Malouin each tallied a hit and an RBI while Benny Woodard singled, doubled and drove in two runs in Smitty’s win on Saturday.
Ben Shivone pitched and had a hit at the plate while Fred Burnap pitched and tallied a pair of hits and RBIs at the plate for Denny’s.
