Bulletin Board: Manny Wineman, Linda Spooner win Don Maynard Road Race

The 30th Annual Don Maynard Road Race took place on Saturday in Greenfield, with Northampton’s Manny Wineman completing the five mile course in time of 29 minutes, two seconds to take first place.
South Hadley’s Gareth Buckley placed second (29:21), Greenfield’s Ben Whitbeck took third (30:30), Leyden’s Ryan Spofford earned fourth (31:37) and Orange’s Cameron Woodcock came in fifth (32:05).
Sturbridge’s Linda Spooner was the top female finisher, taking sixth overall (32:46). Greenfield’s Aaron Stone came in seventh (33:43), Conway’s Ron Boyden took eighth (34:54), Ware’s Brian Farmer earned ninth (35:55) and Leyden’s Doug Pratt took 10th (36:28).
After Spooner, Florence’s Sarah Nelson (36:52) and South Deerfield’s JoEllen Reino (37:25) were the next two female finishers.
Snow Cup
The first annual “Snow Cup” competition between the Northfield Golf Club and Thomas Memorial Golf Club took place over the weekend, competing in a Ryder Cup format.
Northfield was able to walk away with a 13.5-10.5 victory, taking an 8.5-3.5 lead after the first day of competition. Thomas Memorial won Day 2, 7-5, but the hole was too deep to climb out of.
Garrett Hasanbasic captained the Northfield squad, with River Kuh, Cody Snow, Shane Foster, Matt Deane, Fred Llewelyn, Gene Lacoy, Norm LaCoy, Curt White, Brayden Thayer, Andy Sena and Jeff Seymour competing for the squad.

Crumpin-Fox Club held its Fall Open Four Ball tournament over the weekend, with Jake Tokarz and Bob Manzello defeating Brett Lampiasi and Mark Holmes to walk away as champions.
In Flight 1, Alex White and Chris Stoddard beat Seth Rosenbloom and Jack St. Clair to take first. Flight 2 saw Ryan Towle and Liam Whitman defeat Sean Connolly and Ryan LaCroix in the championship match while Ken Shea and Jason Magoon beat Carl Hoynoski and Jim O’Sullivan to take Flight 3.
Flight 4 saw Gene Cetto and Ryan Cetto beat Lee Skiffington and Cam Skiffington in the championship match, John Marchefka and Johnny Marchefka defeated Ed Lugo and Michael Niemczyk in Flight 5’s championship match, Richard Copponi and Kevin Donahue defeated Brian Anderson and Robert Thrul to win Flight 6 while Mark Mclear and Ken Robidoux beat Jody Barton and Gina Mazzaro to win Flight 7.
Feed the Families
The sixth annual Feed the Families Golf Tournament took place over the weekend at Thomas Memorial, with the team of Adam Graves, Kyle Graves, Shane Novak and Albert Cheney taking first with a score of 63.
Chet Czernich, Eric Czernich, Brian Peters and Charlie Peters took second (64). In closest to the pin, Cameron Cogswell won on No. 9 (11 feet, three inches), Eric Czernich won on No. 16 (7-2) and Sally Malloy took it on No. 18 (12-2).
All proceeds went to providing turkey baskets for families in Franklin County.

Andy Lesenski and Justin McCloud shot a two-round score of 130 to win the Barber Flight in the Barber Collins Two Ball tournament at Country Club of Greenfield over the weekend.
Lee Albertson and Edward Hagelstein took second (131) while Jason Kelton and David Kennedy placed third (134). Dean Vecchiarelli and Steve Mihalek shot the low net (129).
Barry Dow and Phil Collins won the Collins Flight (137), with Brendan Fleming and Steve Zaczynski taking second (138) and Ike Purinton and Patrick Varner placing third (143). Gary Blanchette and Mark Jackson shot the low net (120).
Elizabeth Archer and Elaine Goodhind won the Women’s Flight with a gross 156 while Nancy Robie and Nancy Donoghue shot the low net (123).
■Dave Hastings, Sean Bayer, Matt Bardsley and Cody Snow shot the low gross of 56 in a Greenfield High School Hockey Outing at Country Club of Greenfield Friday.
Matt Zraunig, Matt Kempf, Bob Haughey and Mike Cloukey carded the low net (51). In the Mixed Flight, Michelle Lauire, Rob Calhoun, Brian Tierney and Sean Lavoine shot the low gross (62) while Paul French, Matt Bete, Dawn Bete and Kim French had the low net (55).
Greenfield Touch League
Blitzing Bears 13, Namaste Rockets 0 — Joseph Colon threw touchdowns to Nico Kaham and Adrix Madera, lifting the Bears to a victory Sunday in the Greenfield Touch Football League.
Jordan Markham, Ethan Dodge and Michael Lopez had strong games in the losing effort.
Gill CC Woodworking 13, Titans 2 — Pat Viencek hooked up with Jalen Sanders and Malachi Roman for touchdowns while David Watson picked off three passes as Gill beat the Titans Sunday.
Reni Baez forced a safety while Raul Baez and Luis Ramos played well for the Titans.
Sirum 36, Namaste Pink Panthers 0 — Malcolm Smith ran in a pair of scores while adding touchdown passes to Jaden Whiting Martinez (2), Parker Hickey and Colin Cloutier in Sirum’s win Sunday.
Jared Hart, Jae Roberge and Mason Meadows showed well in the loss.
Youth football
Frontier PeeWee 30, South Hadley 19 — Johnny Stanisewsi, Ryan Washburn, Kyree Petrizzi-Richmond and Lane Kicza found the end zone in Frontier’s victory Sunday.
Mason Rose, Colton Urkiel and Logan Elias played well on defense in the win.
Frontier Seniors 33, South Hadley 0 — Riggins Kopcz scored three touchdowns while Prestyn Petrizzi-Richmond also scored in Frontier’s triumph Sunday. Ryder Savage, Alden Dacus, Chase Greene and Landon Lavelle played well in the win.
Franklin County Junior Bulldogs 6, Easthampton 0 — Benjamin Woodward picked off a pass in overtime before he hit Avery Lococo for the game-winning touchdown in the Bulldogs’ overtime victory Sunday.
Wes Darling had 12 tackles, Nate Ortiz blocked a punt, Sean Winslow had five tackles and Toby Campbell had four tackles in the win.
Franklin County PeeWee Bulldogs 21, Easthampton 8 — Brock Puchalski ran for 94 yards and three scores, Gavin Keene ran for 29 yards while Kent Warner, Jace Brunelle, Phoenyx Maynard and Majer Rodriguez combined for 15 tackles in the Bulldogs’ victory Sunday.
Greenfield 7, Longmeadow 0 — Penelope Gioules and Charley Deane each scored three goals and dished an assist, Dani Zraunig scored and had an assist while Grayson Baker had an assist in the Greenfield Rec Bantams win Saturday.
Yanis Chibani and Steve Pedigree beat Alden Booth and Guy Ardrey (6-4, 7-6 (3) in the quarterfinals of the Greenfield Tennis Assocation A Division Doubles Playoff Saturday.
Sally Gladstone and Charlie Huskra beat Steve Stone and Bill Thompson (6-7, 6-3, 10-6) while Joe Moore and David Hernandez beat Brian Fournier and Brian Lamore (6-3, 6-4).
