SHELBURNE — The motorcyclist that collided with a pickup truck on Route 2 on Tuesday afternoon died of his injuries at Baystate Franklin Medical Center that day, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
Reynold Famosi Jr., 72, of Charlemont, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to First Assistant District Attorney Steve Gagne. He said Famosi was riding a motorcycle east on Route 2 when he struck a westbound Ford F-250 that was pulling into the parking lot of the Aubuchon Hardware at 351 Mohawk Trail shortly before 2 p.m.
Gagne said the truck’s driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with authorities. Gagne said no charges have been filed. Charlemont resident Dale Bulmer identified himself as the truck’s driver when interviewed by a Greenfield Recorder reporter on Tuesday.
The crash remains under investigation by Shelburne Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Gagne said.
Eastbound and westbound traffic was backed up on Route 2 on Tuesday as authorities blocked off the crash site. Debris had been scattered across the road, along with a helmet and a heavily damaged Honda motorcycle.
