GREENFIELD — There’s just a few days left to purchase a ticket for the seventh annual “Taste of the Towns” restaurant raffle to support the Greenfield Public Library.

Tickets will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 7, and the winners of the $1,200 in restaurant gift certificates will be chosen during the winter farmers market being held at the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Two prize packages are up for grabs, each offering $600 worth of gift certificates to restaurants throughout the county. Each prize basket has eight donated gift certificates.

The annual raffle, organized by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is one of the largest fundraisers in support of library programming each year.

“The Friends’ goal is to support programs for all: adults, teens, tweens, kids and tots,” said Karen Larabee, president of the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library. “It’s a great fundraiser that pays for all the programs at the library.”

Larabee said last year’s raffle raised $9,500 and helped support dozens of programs. The library offers 20 to 25 programs each month, from weekly children’s story hours and teen writing workshops to adult book discussions and summer reading programs.

“It’s a wonderful program that sponsors so much of our programs,” said Pamela McBride, an information services assistant at the library.

As of Tuesday morning, 1,485 raffle tickets had been purchased through the online portal, raising $4,405 toward the $5,000 goal for online sales. The total for in-person sales has not been calculated yet.
