GREENFIELD — After a three-year hiatus, the Eventide Singers’ annual benefit concert will return on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church of Greenfield, 16 Court Square.

Joe Toritto, director of the Eventide Singers, said along with the 19 songs planned, there will also be two guest speakers whose loved ones have been sung to by the Eventide Singers. The hospice choir aims to comfort the dying, the ill and the homebound through music.

The hour-and-a-half concert will feature songs ranging from sacred chants, spirituals, upbeat South African songs and traditional folk. The concert will be followed by time to socialize. Toritto encourages attendees to speak with the singers about their services or if they have any interest in joining the hospice choir.

The choir will consist of the same group that has been with the Eventide Singers throughout the pandemic, along with a lot of new singers. Toritto said it feels “really great” to be able to host the annual concert for the first time since before the pandemic began.

“I can’t believe we are able to have a big crowd,” he said. “And we sound so good.”

It feels like the choir is “approaching normal” again, Toritto added.

“We’re just excited that we can do our annual concert,” he said.

Attendees are advise to enter the church through the north door. Masks “are optional but strongly encouraged,” Toritto said.

Although the concert is free, $15 donations are suggested to benefit the Second Congregation Church, where the choir practices. The concert is sponsored by Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, The Arbors of Greenfield, and Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
