GREENFIELD — Get ready for snacks, sips and sparkles at the pre-New Year’s Eve party at Franklin County’s YMCA on Saturday, Dec. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m.
“Our vision is to host a community event that is celebratory of the year and that feels accessible and comfortable for everyone,” said Franklin County’s YMCA Director of Development Maddy Oldenburg.
The party will include hors d’oeuvres by BASH Catering, a cash bar provided by Hitchcock Brewing Co., and music and dancing by DJ Bobby C. Tickets, which are $15, can be purchased in advance (recommended) or at the door.
Attendees do not need a membership to Franklin County’s YMCA to participate, but the event is only open to adults ages 21 and older.
The front door will be the only accessible entrance during the party, which will take place in the gymnasium.
This is the second year the Y is hosting this party. Last year’s tickets were $35 and it took place on the last day of the year. According to Oldenburg, the leadership team lowered the price of the tickets to make the event more affordable and accessible to all.
People who feel they cannot pay for the $15 tickets but would still like to attend are invited to go to the Y’s front desk and ask for Oldenburg to receive a free ticket.
“We do not want the tickets to be a reason not to come,” Oldenburg said.

The menu is filled with high-end treats and is just as full as last year despite the change in price.
There is no dress code, with Oldenburg advising, “Wear what makes you feel good.” However, sparkles are encouraged.
Franklin County’s YMCA has a lot to celebrate from the past year, according to Oldenburg. She said this year marks the organization’s full rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. Rates of membership and programming have gone back up to their original 2019 numbers. She also said the Y wants to celebrate its hard-working staff.
“We are excited about the future,” Oldenburg said, “and the ways in which our Y is growing and becoming more accessible.”
