Local golf: Andy Lesenski, Terry Boyce repeat as Country Club of Greenfield club champions

Make it five in a row for Andy Lesenski.

Country Club of Greenfield held its club championship over the weekend, and Lesenski capturing his fifth straight title on the men’s side. 

Lesenski carded rounds of 67, 68 and 67 to finish with a three-round total of 202, which was eight shots clear of runner-up Cody Booska (210).

Gunnar Moore took third (213), Nate Burdick placed fourth (217), David Kennedy came in fifth (218), Jason Kelton and Chris Bourbeau tied for sixth (221), Will Conant placed eighth (224) while Ryan Cote, Justin McCloud, Brady Booska and Mike Archer tied for ninth (226). 

Terry Boyce was the winner of the CCG women’s club championship, shooting round of 82 and 77 to finish with a two-day total of 159. It was Boyce’s fourth club championship win in the last five years.

Elaine Goodhind placed second (165) and Raye Young came in third (174). In net scoring, Elizabeth Archer came in first (138), Diane Carme took second (143) and Corrine Sysun placed third (148). 

In the President’s Cup Club Championship, Patrick Varner took first (156), Roy Emerson placed second (159) while Terry Blanchard, John Walker and Jack Killeen tied for third  (161).  

In the Vice President’s Club Championship, Brian Luippold placed first (134), Norman Morris came in second (138), Ike Purington took third (141) and Richard Tozloski came in fourth (146).

It came down to a playoff between Bob Bergeron and Rich Carroll to decide the Crumpin-Fox Club Senior Men’s club champion over the weekend, as both completed their two rounds with total scores of 159. 

Bergeron was able to win in a two-hole playoff to take home the Senior club title. Joe Imelio came in third (164) while Peter Jenkins (138), Mike Maguire (143) and Carl Hoynoski (144) had the low net scores. 

Valerie Esquer took the title of Women’s club champion after shooting a two-round score of 174. Lisa Sullivan shot the low net on the women’s side (155). 

Art Dufresene Memorial

The Ashfield Community Golf Club held its 25th annual Art Dufresene Memorial Four-Person Scramble Tournament on Saturday, with Mark Graves, Mark Easton, Zach Bitzer and Gabe Bitzer placing first. 

Dave Cote, Tim Nye, Bill Buck and Craig Sessions took second while Bret Bourman, John Sontag, Brett Sallee and Junior Rivera settling for third. 

Hunter Sessions and Norma Labelle were winners of longest drive on No. 4, Dave Corliss won closest to the pin on No. 5 while Bourman won closest to the pin on No. 9. 

Mother-Son Championship

The 2024 Mass Golf Mother Son Modified Scotch Championship took place on Monday at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, with Jesse Morgan Jr., representing Northfield Golf Club, and Michelle Morgan, representing Amherst Golf Club, taking second place with a 3-under 69. 

Elizabeth Archer and Dylan Archer, representing Country Club of Greenfield, tied for 13th with an 11-over 83 while Northfield Mount Hermon golf coach Mace Foehl and her son Cooper Hemphill tied for 14th with a 12-over 84. 

Ryan Sullivan and Lisa Sullivan, representing Crumpin-Fox Club, tied for 18th with a 17-over 89.
