Local authors reading from book on ultimate Frisbee

GREENFIELD — Local authors Marc Guillaume and Terry Plotkin will read from their new book, “Ultimate Matters,” on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Public Library. The novel follows a high school ultimate Frisbee team through a season of ups and downs, in search of a state championship.

Gift shop sponsoring ‘I Love My Clogs’ sale

GREENFIELD — The gift shop at Baystate Franklin Medical Center is sponsoring an “I Love My Clogs” sale in the hospital’s main lobby on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and Thursday, Dec. 5, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The sale will feature comfort shoes, socks and handbags, with brands including Dansko, Sanita, Klogs, TRAQ, L’Artiste and Alegria.

Cash, Mastercard, Visa and Discover cards will be accepted, and hospital employees can opt for payroll deductions. Proceeds from the sale benefit patient services.

Dec. 5: ‘Do I Need This?’ screening

GREENFIELD — Greening Greenfield will present a screening of the award-winning documentary film “Do I Need This?” by Kate Schermerhorn on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at All Souls Church, 399 Main St.

On its surface, the film is a joyride through American buying habits, but at its core, it is a reflection on the true source of happiness. Admission is free.

Holiday Concert set for Dec. 6

GREENFIELD — The GCC Community Chorus will present an informal Holiday Concert in the college’s main lobby on Friday, Dec. 6, from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.

The program will include carols and traditional music for the season as well as a gospel number and a 19th-century anthem by Lowell Mason. The audience will be invited to join in the singing of several holiday songs and light refreshments will be available.

Performers will include Margery Heins, conductor; John Yannis, accompanist; and soloists from the chorus. This is the group’s third and final concert of the fall 2024 semester. Second semester rehearsals will begin in early February 2025.

Audience members are advised to reserve extra time for parking and walking to the main entrance, as Lot A is the only general parking choice due to campus construction.

The GCC Community Chorus, now in its second year, is a program of Greenfield Community College Community Engagement. Admission is free to the Holiday Concert.
