GREENFIELD — A 51-year-old pedestrian was transported to the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday evening after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Federal Street near Maple Street.
The driver, a 74-year-old Buckland resident, was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla southbound on Federal Street just before 6 p.m. when she struck a Greenfield woman who was walking in the crosswalk, according to Deputy Police Chief William Gordon. Gordon said the driver reported not being able to see the pedestrian, who was transported by American Medical Response (AMR) to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
“It’s a busy area at that time of night,” he said.
Gordon said no damage was observed to the vehicle, and the Buckland woman was cited with a failure to give right of way to a pedestrian.
