Leading Smith Vocational 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Franklin Tech baseball team's bats came to life. 

The Eagles put four across in the inning, and Kyle Begos closed things out in the seventh, allowing Franklin Tech to come away with a 7-3 independent victory in Turners Falls Friday. 

Begos pitched all seven innings for the Eagles, striking out four and scattering five hits. At the plate, Tyler Yetter led the way with three hits and three RBIs while Hunter Donahue singled, doubled and drove in two runs. 

Gavin Crossman cracked two hits and an RBI, Ben Dodge recorded a hit and an RBI while Begos hit safely in the victory. 

Frontier 3, Southwick 0 — Tyler Cusson pitched a seven-inning shutout for the Redhawks, striking out nine and allowing two hits as Frontier earned an independent win in South Deerfield Friday. 

Kaden James singled and doubled, Nico Fasulo tallied an RBI double, Grayson Loos doubled while Jack Conlon, Ben Caron and Owen Babb hit safely in the win. 

Greenfield 2, Mount Greylock 1 — Michael Pierce kept the Green Wave in it going into the seventh. 

Pierce tossed all seven innings for Greenfield, striking out nine and allowing just one hit though the Green Wave still trailed, 1-0.

Caleb Thomas and Luca Siano opened the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles and Nick Prasol moved them over with a sacrifice bunt. Arthur Fitzpatrick singled in Thomas and with one out, Preston Lafleur hit a sacrifice fly to score Siano and lift Greenfield to a 2-1 victory. 

The Green Wave had just two hits going into the seventh. Siano tallied two hits in the win. 

Mahar 18, Lee 0 (5) — The hits came early and often for the Sens, as Mahar blasted 15 hits and scored multiple runs in four of the five innings to run away with a win over host Lee Friday. 

Will Barnes tallied three hits and two RBIs, Sam Connors knocked a double, two singles and drove in a run, Gavin Young doubled to drive in two runs while Lucas Isrow (two hits, four RBIs), Luke Connors (one hit, four RBIs), Morgan Softic (two hits, one RBI) and Matt Vitello (two hits, RBI) also had big days at the plate in the win. 

Sam Connors struck out six in the victory. 

Monson 4, Athol 1 — The Mustangs held the Bears to three hits in Monson Friday. 

Eli Wein, Enyert Arias Cepeda and Dom St. Andre had Athol’s hits, with Alex Lavigne, Ethan Heuer and Anthony Lopez each struck out two for the Bears. 

Amherst 11, Mohawk Trail 7 — Jackson Lilienthal hit an RBI single in the Warriors’ independent loss to the Hurricanes on Friday in Buckland. 

Softball

Franklin Tech 18, Northampton 2 — Lilianna Inman got the scoring going for the Eagles with a two-run blast over the fence in the second, helping propel Tech to a Franklin County League East triumph over the Blue Devils in Northampton Friday. 

The win sealed the FCL East title for the Eagles (14-2, 11-0). 

“Winning the league championship is always nice,” Franklin Tech coach Joe Gamache said. “It’ll add another banner to our gym. This group of seniors were part of a league championship team each of their four years and that’s big for them. This was one of our many goals we have this year. Hopefully we can continue along the way.” 

Lilly Ross allowed three hits while striking out six in the circle and added a hit and two RBIs at the plate. Shelby O’Leary singled, doubled and drove in three runs, Hannah Gilbert singled and tripled while Gianna DiSciullo tallied a hit and three RBIs for the Eagles. 

Smith Academy 10, Pioneer 5 — Kelly Baird struck out nine and added a triple and an RBI at the plate in the Panthers’ independent loss to the Falcons on Friday in Northfield. 

Avery Johnson, Jacobi Tyminski and Erin Killay each recorded a hit and an RBI while Allie Clary, Kaelynn Chabot and Jaelynn Boliski hit safely for Pioneer. 

Boys volleyball

Frontier 3, East Longmeadow 0 — Aleks Carey led the way with 17 kills while Jack Carey added 16 kills in the Redhawks’ 25-21, 25-20, 25-22 triumph over the Spartans on Friday in East Longmeadow. 

Tavo Vincent-Warner dished 40 Assists, Evan Maio came up with 17 digs while Will Petrin tallied three kills and was strong in the service line for Frontier. 

Girls tennis

Lee 4, Frontier 1 — Esther Ehle and Kayla Fagan earned a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in No. 2 doubles in the Redhawks’ loss to the Wildcats on Friday in South Deerfield. 

Late Thursday results

Frontier 15, Wahconah 9 — Have a night, Delaney Fifield. 

The junior went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, with her third hit counting as the 100th of her career. The Redhawks scored four in the sixth and one in the seventh to pull away with a Franklin County League West win in Dalton on Thursday. 

Sophia Pinardi cracked four hits and drove in two runs, Olivia Machon knocked three hits and knocked in a run, Skyler Steele singled, tripled and drove in three runs, Hailey Hutkoski doubled to drive in two, Raine Wonsey singled and knocked in two runs while Ashley Taylor singled and doubled for Frontier. 

Wonsey went the distance in the circle, striking out seven.
