Many thanks to Ray DiDinato for his eloquent defense of our farms and forestland against the imminent threat of destruction posed by Gov. Maura Healey’s misguided plan to convert these precious lands to sites for solar development [“Eastern Mass. is coming for our forests, fields and farmlands,” June 27].

As he notes, there is no need. There is plenty of room on rooftops, over parking lots, and so on. And battery storage projects might be sited more sensibly on brownfields or otherwise contaminated industrial sites. In fact, it is puzzling why the governor would look to the pristine lands of western Massachusetts for such projects, and disappointing that she may be developing the Boston blinders already.
