Warren Rice: Says writers have declared presidential winner

There has been a lot of comments about how the Republican candidate for president has been trying to convince voters that the election system is rigged in favor of opponent, causing mistrust of the system, yet in less than a week there have been two columns published in this paper on the opinion page that have declared the Democratic candidate as the winner, and already our next president.

The paper should should not print something that is just as harmful to that trust.

Printing letters that declare one candidate or the other the winner with three months left to go before the election, regardless of who writes them, is irresponsible in my opinion, given the fact that the subject of trust in our ballot system is at an all time low already.

If these writers want to sway public opinion towards their chosen candidate, perhaps they can be guided to buying ads in the paper promoting them, instead of inserting sly comments into their opinion pieces, as they are doing just as much damage to the public’s confidence in the system as the people they claim are completely to blame for it.
