GREENFIELD — The Literacy Project will hold an open house to celebrate the opening of its new classrooms and administrative offices at 278 Main St., second floor, on Monday, Sept. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The Literacy Project is a nonprofit that provides classes to residents ages 16 years old and older who are seeking to advance their literacy skills and prepare to complete their high school equivalency exam (HiSET). Obtaining a high school equivalency credential makes it possible for students to attend college or enter the workforce making higher wages. Classes are free and students can enroll at any time during the school year.

“I am really excited to host this open house for our community,” Executive Director Colleen Kucinski said in a statement. “The Literacy Project has been a part of Greenfield since its establishment in 1984, and our new location right in the heart of the city gives us the opportunity to connect more deeply with our community.”

This event is free and open to the public. The program will include student and community speakers, light refreshments and tours of the space.
