Local Roundup: Frontier softball falls to Advanced Math and Science, 11-0, in Div. 4 Round of 16

The Frontier softball team’s run in the MIAA Div. 4 state tournament came to a close on Wednesday.
After knocking off Monument Mountain in the Round of 32, the 13th-seeded Redhawks traveled to Marlborough to take on No. 4 Advanced Math and Science. Despite eight hits, Frontier was unable to get a run across, falling 11-0 in the Round of 16.
AMSA advanced to face No. 5 Abington in the quarterfinals.
Delaney Fifield led the way with three hits while Sophia Pinardi doubled for the Redhawks. Ashley Taylor, senior Gabby Adams, senior Hailey Hutkoski and Whitney Campbell hit safely in the loss.
Frontier closed out its season with a 12-10 record, its most wins since 2019.
Gilmore & Farrell Insurance 18, Greenfield Garden Cinema 9 — Kaylin Sevoian home run, a triple and drove in five runs, Rian Farrell doubled and drove in three runs while Sadie Wilcox struck out 10 and added a single, a double and three RBIs at the plate in Gilmore’s triumph on Tuesday.
Mila Phelps doubled and drove in two runs, Samantha Rider tallied two hits while Maisie Miller pitched and had a hit and an RBI at the plate for Greenfield Garden.
Descavich Plumbing 8, Precision Driving 4 — Clara Stevens and Emerson Russell each singled and drove in two runs while Lexi Berry, Charlie Lovett and Sammi Suhl combined for 14 strikeouts and only gave up three hits in Descavich’s victory Tuesday.

Liberty Tax Sharks 17, Cartelli Collision Center 3 — Che Christi tallied two doubles, two singles and two RBIs, Matt Gibson doubled twice, singled and drove in three while Jacob Christi recorded three hits and two RBIs in the Sharks’ win Wednesday.
Rachelle Mathey had three hits and two RBIs, Dan Hamburg knocked two hits while Joe Longo homered in the loss.
