Where’s the innovation?

I am curious as to why electric grid infrastructure has to be seen as such a stumbling block on the road to solarization, when independent home and business solar arrays can perform stand-alone generation quite capably.

Speaking of the road, why aren’t electric cars built with solar bodies, something General Motors pioneered back in the 80s? The GMC Sunraycer, I believe they named their prototype, easily won a race across Australia at an average speed of 55 mph.

Of course, we’ll still need charging stations, and the grid capacity to run them, but innovation can help ease the pressure, right?
