Man airlifted to Springfield following crash into tree near Bernardston/Leyden line

LEYDEN — A man was airlifted to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield late Sunday night after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree on Eden Trail near the Bernardston/Leyden line.
According to a post on the Bernardston Fire Department’s Facebook page, a witness who saw the crash pulled the unresponsive man from the vehicle before first responders with the Bernardston Police and Bernardston Fire departments, Colrain Ambulance, South County EMS, the Leyden Fire Department and the Northfield Police Department arrived. Personnel were dispatched to the crash at 11:13 p.m.
The post states the Bernardston Fire Department set up a landing zone at Pratt Field. From there, the patient was taken by medical helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
The Bernardston Police Department is investigating the crash.
