‘Local Birds in Colored Pencil’ exhibit on display

TURNERS FALLS — A new exhibit at the Great Falls Discovery Center will be on display from Aug. 1 to Sept. 2.

Artist Mark Majeski will display his drawings as part of his “Local Birds in Colored Pencil” exhibit in the Great Hall. Using this process, he emphasizes the coloration and behavior of commonly seen Massachusetts birds.

The exhibit can be viewed during the Great Falls Discovery Center’s open hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Artists sought for 2024 Wrapping Paper Edition

TURNERS FALLS — Starting in 2020, the Montague Reporter, a weekly nonprofit newspaper covering Montague, Erving, Gill, Wendell and Leverett, invited seven local artists to design pages to be used exclusively as wrapping paper during the holiday season. Artists are now welcome to participate in the 2024 Wrapping Paper Edition.

Artists from western Massachusetts and southern Vermont are invited to submit designs and proposals for wrapping paper pages in advance of the Sept. 1 deadline. Each artist will have the space of two full adjacent pages for their design, making a double page measuring approximately 20 by 22 inches. Artists may design in full color or in black and white in any style. The designs do not have to reference any holidays.
