Selectboard hears overview of fiscal year 2025 capital project schedule

MONTAGUE — The Selectboard was given an overview of existing and ongoing capital projects by Assistant Town Administrator Walter Ramsey during its May 13 meeting. According to Ramsey, the town has 26 projects, two of which are purchases of vehicles or equipment and the rest being physical projects involving construction.

The construction projects include work on the Town Hall, libraries and Gill-Montague Senior Center, said Ramsey, who made this list to help his successor in the assistant town administrator role. He mentioned that a plan to rehabilitate the basement at Carnegie Public Library was approved two years ago and has been “slow to happen.”

“The concern is the project will be hard to fit into the budget,” Ramsey said. “It is a priority to get that project back on track.”

Other projects include work on the First Street alley and 11th Street bridge, along with the Montague Center Park and Hillcrest Elementary School playground.

Tag, plant and bake sale planned

MONTAGUE CENTER — The First Congregational Church of Montague, located at 4 North St., will host a tag, plant and bake sale on Saturday, May 25, from 8 to 11:45 a.m. The sale will be held rain or shine.
