Montague Police Logs: Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, 2024

Monday, Nov. 4

3:43 p.m. — Caller reports she used the ATM at Carroll’s Market on East Main Street and there has since been tow withdrawals pending for $200 each that she hasn’t requested. She made the business aware, too. Would like it on record.

9:12 p.m. — Reporting party on Third Street states a female came to her house asking about money that she owes. When the reporting party asked her to leave, she did. Caller states she doesn’t owe her money but the female threatened to call her parents if she didn’t pay. Reporting party was advised to call back if the female returns.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

3:11 p.m. — 911 hang-up at Turners Falls High School. Called back, juvenile stating someone stole his belongings but gave them back. No need for police assistance. Officer advised. Officer made contact with the reporting party who did get his belongings back and the other party moved along prior to police arrival.

4:43 p.m. — Greenfield Police request an officer check a location on Davis Street in Turners Falls for a vehicle operated by a female believed to be involved with shoplifting at Big Y. Officer advised there was no answer at the front or back door, but the vehicle is still hot as if it was recently driven and there are multiple lights on inside. No contact made.

8:54 p.m. — Greenfield Police advising they positively identified the female from the shoplifting incident. Female is currently at her apartment or walking to another apartment on Davis Street. Officers did not see anyone walking, will check residence. Officers will be on the lookout for the female.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

4:56 p.m. — Reporting party on Edward Avenue is concerned about an out-of-state vehicle that has been sitting there for three or four days. Vehicle is legally parked, nothing suspicious noted.

Thursday, Nov. 7

6:40 a.m. — Reporting party states there is a black Saab driving at high rates of speed on Federal Street, passing three cars and a bus at one time. Reporting party states this is the second day in a row the vehicle has done this. Officers advised.

1:11 p.m. — Caller at K and Fifth streets reports two male partied just knocked on her door asking questions about who lives in the house and if anyone there speaks Spanish. When she started questioning them, they said they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and left in a vehicle. Officer made contact with the two male parties. They are Jehovah’s Witnesses.

7:07 p.m. — Reporting party advises there is a male inside his vehicle in the parking lot of Family Dollar on Avenue A who appears to be unconscious. The male has been there for approximately three and a half hours. The male has been observed smoking and then going unconscious repeatedly. Officer made contact with the male and was advised he was taking a nap in his vehicle.

Friday, Nov. 8

3:35 p.m. — Reporting party advised that her sister-in-law’s grave on Turnpike Road was tampered with. Officer advised her of her options.

Saturday, Nov. 9

2:16 p.m. — Reporting party states a girl just threw a computer or tablet into the river across the road from the skate park on First Street. Officers advised.

4:01 p.m. — Reporting party from the Montague Village Store on Main Street states two teenagers were just in the store and she would like them advised not to return. One of the teens reportedly tries to distract the clerk while the other tries to steal alcohol from a restricted area. Reporting party advising the females are on Old Greenfield Road near the Montague Bookmill at this time. Area of Old Greenfield Road was checked, nothing found. Officer responded to the residence of one of the teens and advised them not to return to the store.

7:06 p.m. — Turners Falls Fire Department reports there is an open door at the Post Office on Avenue A. Bay door leading into the delivery drop-off area. Officer advising no signs of forced entry.

Sunday, Nov. 10

12:55 p.m. — Reporting party from Fourth Street states his vehicle was entered overnight and gone through. Nothing missing, just wanted it on record.

Monday, Nov. 11

9:51 a.m. — Caller from Morris Avenue states someone broke into the house during the night and went through items in her basement. Report taken.
