ORANGE — The Orange Public Libraries have launched a new website.

Library Director Jason Sullivan-Flynn said the old website was designed by Mik Muller, president and CEO of Montague WebWorks, and he recently worked with Muller to revamp it. Sullivan-Flynn consulted with new Children’s Librarian April Violette, who advocated for the current design. They also crafted some slides for the homepage’s carousel, a slideshow that displays multiple pieces of content in a single space on a website.

“It’s really important to promote the programs you’re running, and the website is one of the keys ways to do it,” Sullivan-Flynn said. “Websites are important to libraries, period. But the programs need to be properly promoted.”

The website displays programs and services at Orange’s two libraries, the Wheeler Memorial Library at 49 East Main St. and the Moore-Leland Library at 172 Athol Road.

Sullivan-Flynn and Muller had been working on the website for roughly a month and it went live about a week ago.

“You need a functioning website [that] is eye-catching and looks great on your phone, on your tablet, on your desktop, on your laptop,” he said. “It needs to look good on all those devices, and it’s part of your promotional piece.”

The new website can be found at orangelib.org.
