Monthly puzzle swap planned for Saturday, Dec. 2

NORTHFIELD — Free used puzzles will be available at Dickinson Memorial Library on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Attendees are advised to park in the back and enter through the side door of the library. Turn left to find the Community Room.

Participants are invited to take as many puzzles as they want, and can keep them as long as they need. The puzzle swap is offered monthly.

Native plant expert, landscape designer giving talk at Town Offices

LEYDEN — The Franklin Conservation District is partnering with towns across the county to convert mowed areas into meadows and native plant pollinator gardens. As part of this effort, Leyden will host native plant expert, landscape designer and author Owen Wormser for a talk on making landscapes more resilient, carbon sequestering and pollinator sheltering.

The talk will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Town Offices, 7 Brattleboro Road. Attendees can win prizes and get free resources to plan for spring.

Council on Aging considering boxed lunches

LEYDEN — The Council on Aging is exploring the possibility of offering boxed lunches, prepared by LifePath, that could be picked up at the Town Offices every Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

These meals would be available to adults ages 60 and older, their spouse or any person with disabilities. There would be a $3 suggested donation and reservations would be required.

Meal paired with ‘Legacy of Female Farmers’ talk

LEYDEN — A community lunch at Town Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 13, will follow a talk titled “Orchard Valley Farm: A Legacy of Female Farmers Spanning Three Generations.” The program begins at 11 a.m.

The meal will include a choice of chili and cornbread or macaroni and cheese, salad and Dutch apple slab pie. Reservations are highly recommended by calling Linda Allis at 413-834-4417.
