WARWICK — As part of the annual Wooden Fender concert series, the Warwick Arts Council will present a “souper supper” and a concert by the Butterfly Swing Band at Warwick Town Hall, 12 Athol Road, on Saturday, Jan. 20.
A meal of homemade soups, chilis, bread and beverages will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner costs $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Then from 7 to 9:30 p.m., attendees can dance or listen to the exuberant swing/jazz grooves of the Butterfly Swing Band. The concert is by donation.
The group covers classic hits from the 1920s through the 1940s by swing greats such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, as well as tunes from contemporary artists such as Imelda May and Diana Krall. The Butterfly Swing Band also plays some of its own compositions. Kate Nicolaou and Amanda Bernhard provide vocals, with Bill Shontz on saxophone, Brian Bender on trombone and trumpet, Robby Roiter on guitar, James Daggs on standup bass and Joe Lomonaco on drums.
All proceeds support the Warwick Arts Council and the Wooden Fender concert series.
