Pioneer Valley Symphony to perform movie music

NORTHFIELD — Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra will perform music from movie favorites under the stars at the Northfield Golf Course on Sunday, June 25, starting at 5 p.m. as part of the town’s 350th anniversary activities.

Volunteers organizing the 350th anniversary events and orchestra staff have been working over many months to build the program from a small ensemble to a developed symphonic production.

“The further we got into the planning, the more it became apparent that we just had to go for it,” Pamela Eldridge, who came up with the original idea for an outdoor concert, said in a statement. In addition to the anniversary’s major sponsors, the Friends of Northfield Seniors brought energy and partial funding to the effort.

The golf course has room for nearly 400 patrons. Audience members can bring their own picnics as limited food truck offerings will be on sale by Myers Catering and All Things Maple. With the orchestra located under the tent, all seating will be on the lawn, so attendees are advised to bring blankets or lawn chairs. The event will be held rain or shine, so weather-appropriate attire is recommended.

Onsite parking is limited, with overflow parking available at the Trinitarian Congregational Church.
