Orange employees to give away Walmart gift card

ORANGE — Town employees are pooling their funds to give away a Walmart gift card to a local family in need this holiday season.

They are asking for nominations from the community for families that would benefit from a helping hand. The form to fill out to nominate a family can be found at tinyurl.com/OrangeHelpingHands.

Selectboard to host public hearing on FY25 taxes

ORANGE — The Selectboard will host a public hearing in its meeting room at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The purpose is to establish the tax share for residential and non-residential property owners for fiscal year 2025, pursuant to Massachusetts General Law.

New Salem Museum and Academy of Fine Art to host painting contest

NEW SALEM — The New Salem Museum and Academy of Fine Art will dole out three awards to winners of its upcoming painting competition. The awards ceremony will be held on May 3.

The three honors will include the Acquisition Award, the winner of which will receive $25,000. The winning painting will be displayed in the museum’s rotating permanent collection.

There will also be a $2,500 People’s Choice Award. Voting will be open to museum visitors during the length of the two-month finalist exhibit.

The third honor will be the Director’s Choice Award, selected by Michael Klein. The winner will get $2,500 in Rosemary & Co. artist brushes.
