St. Mary’s Women’s Club opens 2024-2025 club year at Scrafty DIY Workshop

ORANGE — St. Mary’s Women’s Club opened the 2024-2025 club year with a mystery ride (in which members receive an address in an envelope and make their way to the destination) and a special sign-making project at Scrafty DIY Workshop on South Main Street.

Members selected a stencil to create a colorful sign. As the paint dried, they enjoyed sandwiches from Corner Café.

After the projects were finished, Maureen Riendeau passed out the new club program booklets, then President Emily White discussed the upcoming Oct. 12 fair. Members will ask local businesses for gift certificates and raffle prizes for the fair, which is the club’s major fundraiser for the year. Proceeds support projects in the church and community, including scholarships, Starry Starry Night, Orange’s holiday lighting, the nonprofit Valuing Our Children, Parish Center repairs and renovations, rectory improvements, altar server robes and more.

The St. Mary’s Women’s Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month through May and has a day trip scheduled for June.
