Whitney Hill Antiques owner Dale Whitney is selling the business after 14 years of ownership.

Whitney explained both the location at 122 Main St. in Greenfield and the Deerfield location at 250 Greenfield Road, called Whitney Hill at The Gables, will remain open and operate the same way, with antique vendors renting space to sell their items.

The decision to sell the business comes from personal circumstances in Whitney’s life, and she said she feels this is her time to retire.

Whitney opened her first antique store on Deacon Parker Road in Bernardston in 2010 before moving to her first Greenfield location at 102 Main St. in 2013. Whitney and her partner Jim Van Valkenburgh then moved the antique store to the larger, 15,000-square-foot location at 122 Main St. in Greenfield in 2016.

The second location, Whitney Hill at The Gables, opened in Deerfield in May 2022. At the time, Whitney said opening a second store became possible after sales at the Greenfield branch picked up following the pandemic. More vendors, a new client base and a location near Yankee Candle were all attractive elements of the second location.

Although Whitney declined to reveal who, she said a potential buyer has expressed interest in purchasing the two antique shops. An exact timeline for when the store will be sold and begin operating under new ownership is unclear.

She expressed her appreciation for the years of support she’s received from customers.

“I want to say how blessed I am to have the community and the faithful customers for being part of Whitney Hill for all these years,” Whitney said. “I’m thankful for everyone’s continued patronage.”
