While the deadline to register to vote in Sunderland’s annual town election has passed, there is still time to register to vote in the three other southern Franklin County towns.
Deerfield’s deadline is rapidly approaching, as voters must be registered by Friday, April 19, at 5 p.m. Residents can stop by the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall, 8 Conway St., to register. Deerfield’s annual town election features a single contested race, as incumbent Selectboard Chair Carolyn Shores Ness faces a challenge from Blake Gilmore. The election will be held on Monday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Hall.
In Conway, the deadline for residents to register to vote in the annual town election is Wednesday, May 22, while Whately residents have until May 31 to register to vote in their annual town election.
CONWAY — The Friends of the Field Memorial Library will host a weekend of events, with story walks on Friday and Sunday and the Spring Field Memorial Library Book Sale on Saturday.
Festivities kick off on Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. with a story walk at Veterans’ Memorial Park across from Town Hall. Story walks will continue on Sunday, April 21, at 4 p.m. April’s walk will be “The Great Big Book of Families” and activity kits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In between the story walks, the Spring Field Memorial Library Book Sale will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room. Thousands of books will be on hand, with hardcover books going for $2, paperbacks for $1 and children’s books for 50 cents.
SOUTH DEERFIELD — Happier Valley Comedy will perform a free short-form improv show at the South County Senior Center on Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m.
The performance is free to the public and will feature up to five performers from the Hadley theater in a completely improvised series of scenes and games inspired by audience involvement and suggestions.
