Two write-in candidates seek assessor seat in Hawley

HAWLEY — Wayne Lemoine and Ashley Harrison have stepped up to be write-in candidates for a three-year assessor position in this year’s annual town election.
Polls will be open at the Town Office on Monday, May 1, from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the Sons & Daughters of Hawley.
Harrison, an 11-year Hawley resident, is an accountant by trade, so she feels she is well-equipped to take on the position in town.
“I saw a need and knew my background could fill the need,” she said.
Harrison explained she is always trying to learn more through experience. A town position would come with a new certification from the state, and Harrison feels it would be an excellent opportunity to learn through the certification process.
“I have been in town for a long time,” she said. “I am here to stay and want to keep the town and its beauty the way it is.”
