Cemetery days continue in Hawley

HAWLEY — The town is hosting volunteer workdays to clean up cemeteries.

Cleanup of the East Hawley Cemetery, located at the corner of Plainfield and Ashfield roads, will take place on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. Volunteers previously worked at Doane Cemetery on Forget Road on Saturday, April 15.

Volunteers should bring work gloves, pruners, lopping shears, leaf rakes, metal rakes and pruning saws.

Participants will move broken branches and fallen limbs to a central area for later disposal. There may also be time to neaten the stone wall perimeters.

Embroidery workshop inspired by Bridge of Flowers

SHELBURNE FALLS — Salmon Falls Gallery at 1 Ashfield St. will host an embroidery workshop led by Julie Crabtree on Sunday, May 21, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants will create their own embroidery project using photos of petunias that were taken on the Bridge of Flowers as inspiration.

No prior knowledge of embroidery stitches is required. Crabtree will provide the monoprinted and stitched sheer backgrounds. Threads and an 8-inch-by-8-inch stretched canvas frame will be provided.

To reserve a seat, call the gallery at 413-625-9833. There will be a $60 instruction fee and $20 materials fee payable the day of the workshop.
