CHARLEMONT — As a community service project, the Hawlemont Regional School 4-H Clubs have organized a food drive to benefit the Charlemont Good Neighbors Food Pantry. Three baskets located throughout the school are available for students and community members to drop off donations.
The 4-H Clubs are currently asking for personal care items including toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair brushes/combs, shampoo and conditioner, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues and can openers. Nonperishable items they hope to receive include juice boxes, pasta, sauce, parmesan cheese, soups, jelly/jams, real maple syrup, kid-friendly cereal and children’s snacks.
Perishable foods like bread can be dropped off on Monday, Dec. 18, or the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 19. Money or gift cards can be dropped off at the school office by Dec. 18. This will give Good Neighbors enough time to buy perishable items that are needed.
Come Dec. 19, the students will walk to the Charlemont Federated Church to deliver and help organize the items they collected.
HAWLEY — The town is in need of volunteers to serve on the Council on Aging. The board provides resources for seniors in town, often in conjunction with the Charlemont Council on Aging.
