Winter parking ban

SHELBURNE FALLS — A parking ban will be in effect for the towns of Shelburne and Buckland for the remainder of the winter season.

In Buckland no parking will be allowed on town roads or sidewalks from midnight until 6 a.m. through March 31. Any vehicle parked on a town street that interferes with the highway department’s ability to plow will be towed at the owners expense. Overnight parking is allowed in the Eagles parking lot off State Street, the long lot just past the Eagles lot, the lot behind town hall off Williams Street, and the Salmon Falls lot off Ashfield Street.

In Shelburne, the parking ban is in effect from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. until April 1, when determined to be needed by the highway superintendent. When forecasts predict heavy snow, the superintendent will send a message to residents alerting them the ban will be in effect, at least four hours in advance. Additionally, there will be flashing blue lights on Bridge Street and Water Street to signify a parking ban. Parking will be allowed in Shelburne during a parking ban in the following lots: Arms Academy parking lot, the parking circle at the bottom of Deerfield Avenue, and the Cross Street parking lot.
