Susanae Glovacki: The Recorder’s role in democracy

Thank you to The Recorder for providing coverage of local issues in town government. I am painfully aware that this is a service, essential to democratic participation, that is no longer available to many localities across the country.

Thank you also to City Councilor Katherine Golub for her articulate discussion of recent proposals in City Council to consider adopting a Code of Conduct “My Turn, “On the city’s civility code,” Aug. 2]. She writes there is already a “Code of Civility” passed by a previous City Council, and suggests that councilors review and sign on to it. Seems like a good idea.

Would the Recorder offer space to publish this Code of Civility? Or perhaps summarize it and provide a link to the city’s website?
