Bulletin Board: Greenfield Pickleball tournament raises $3,000

The Greenfield Pickleball Community hosted a Greater Greenfield Pickleball fundraiser on Sunday at Greenfield High School. The fundraiser raised $3,000 to go toward building six new pickleball courts at Abercrombie Field. 

In the Competitive Doubles division, Jonathan MacLeod and Nathan Barber-Smith knocked off Paul Croutwurst and Colin Hamill to win the title. James Fortin and Roger Schmidt settled for third. 

Jennifer Coffin and Ellen Abraham beat Vanessa Krauthoff Geiske and JoEllen Reino to win the Women’s Doubles Division, with Bridge Hamill and Olivia Wiggins taking third. The Men’s Doubles Division was won by Mike Brezsnyak and Gary Fielder, with Ken Cook and Tony Zager taking second and Steve Lattanzi and Eric Halloran finishing in third. 

Croutwurst and Coffin won the Mixed Doubles Division, with MacLeod and Maggie Barrier placing second and Charlie Tormanen and Genevieve Garanin settling for third. 

Greenfield Touch Football

The Greenfield Touch Football League semifinals took place on Sunday, with Gill CC Woodworking knocking off Sirum, 6-0, behind a Pat Viencek touchdown pass to Cody Underwood. The Gill defense forced three interceptions and came up with three sacks in the win.

Malcolm Smith drove Sirum to the 18-yard-line to end the game. 

Gill will meet the Titans in the finals, as the Titans beat J&J Athletics 12-6 in the second semifinal contest. Julio Riviera found Gio Ortiz with 36 seconds remaining for the game-winning score while Riviera added an eight-yard rushing score in the victory. 

Mak Rodgers round Tyson Dowdy for an 11-yard score for J&J.

Youth hockey

FCHA 10U 4, Westfield 3 — Samuel Edson had two goals and an assist while Braith Brothers had a goal and an assist in FCHA’s win Sunday. 

Charles Barbato also scored while Aiden Baldwin, Nicholas Brisson and Emerson Snow had assists in the victory.
