Multiple locals impress during first day of MIAA Div. 6 State Track and Field Championship on Thursday

A number of local athletes traveled to Merrimack College on Thursday to compete in Day One of the MIAA Div. 6 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, with multiple locals earning top 10 finishes. 

Mahar’s Stellina Moore was the top local finisher on the day. The freshman cleared nine feet, zero inches in the girls pole vault, earning her fourth on the day. 

Also on the girls side, Frontier’s Madelyn Antes placed 10th in the 400 hurdles (1:11.89) while in the 800 Redhawk’s Nicole Plasse came in 10th (2:29.91) and Addison Morrey placed 15th (2:33.15). In the 2 mile, Frontier’s Sylvie DiBartolomeo (10th, 12:33.07) and Leah Gump (12th, 12:35.49) earned top 15 finishes while fellow Redhawk’s Lilly Novak came in eighth in the discus (90-8), Elsa Brown placed ninth in the pole vault (8-6) and Hannah Davis earned 17th in the triple jump (32-5.5).

Mohawk Trail’s Emmy Sisum placed 22nd in the 400 hurdles (1:15.79), Anya Read came in 16th in the 800 (2:34.10), Natalie Lanoue took 16th in the 2 mile (12:43.88), Morgan Raffa came in seventh in the discus (94-3) while Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner placed 14th in the discus (86-9) while Pioneer’s Emmanuelle Flagollet placed 26th in the 400 hurdles (1:17.10). 

On the boys side, Athol’s Nicholas Leblanc walked away with a fifth place finish in the discus (150-2). For Frontier, Evan Hedlund placed eighth in the 800 (2:01.76), Jack Storm took 19th in the triple jump (39-2.25), Aidan Valderrama came in 22nd in the 800 (2:08.53) and Alex Schreiber placed 17th in discus (118-0). 

Greenfield’s Mason Youmell took 26th in the 400 hurdles (1:03.22) while Green Wave Jon Breor took 22nd in discus (104-4). Mahar’s Mitchell Krasco took fifth in the triple jump (43-10.5) and seventh in the 400 hurdles (59.73) and Mohawk Trail’s Peter Healy came in 26th in the 2 mile (10:51.56). 

The meet will pick back up against on Saturday, starting at 2:30 p.m. in North Andover.
